According to Foresight News , the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Justice's official WeChat account reported that a new type of scam using fake "taste tasting cards" to lure victims into online telecommunications fraud has emerged in multiple locations across the country. Fraud gangs distribute counterfeit supermarket "taste tasting cards," enticing victims to scan QR codes and join so-called "benefit groups," subsequently committing fraud involving money transfers and rebates. Shandong police have solved multiple related cases and arrested several suspects. Investigations revealed that the criminals used overseas communication software to contact their superiors and settled their proceeds through virtual currency, making the scam highly covert. Police warn the public that this type of scam is highly deceptive; they should be vigilant, avoid scanning QR codes from unknown sources, and refrain from disclosing personal information to unfamiliar platforms to prevent financial losses.
