Democrats are trying to block Trump from imposing tariffs on European countries over Greenland.

According to Bloomberg, Senate Democrats plan to introduce legislation on January 18th to block Trump from imposing tariffs on European countries that oppose the U.S. annexation of Greenland. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer previously criticized the move, saying it would damage the U.S. economy and alliances. Earlier today, Trump posted on Truth Social Media that due to the Greenland issue, starting February 1st, all goods exported to the U.S. from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland would be subject to a 10% tariff. By June 1st, the tariff will increase to 25%. This tariff will continue to be paid until an agreement is reached on the "complete and total purchase of Greenland."
