According to ChainCatcher, citing Cointelegraph, security researcher Andrey Sergeenkov pointed out that the recent surge in Ethereum transactions and address activity may be due to a large-scale address poisoning attack that takes advantage of low gas fees.
This attack uses a "dust attack" to forge similar addresses, tricking users into transferring funds to incorrect addresses. Fusaka's upgrade reduced transaction fees by over 60%, significantly lowering the cost of this type of attack. Research shows that more than 116,000 people have been affected, with total losses exceeding $740,000.
