The Hong Kong Ethereum Community Hub, supported by the Ethereum Foundation's "Ethereum Everywhere" initiative and jointly operated by SNZ and EHTAO, successfully held its first offline gathering before its official opening on January 24. This marked the first public appearance of Asia's first physical Ethereum hub and also established a new tradition of monthly gatherings for the Hong Kong Ethereum community.
On the day of the event, over 150 participants attended, creating a lively atmosphere. The Ethereum Foundation team sat down with local developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, institutional partners, and seasoned enthusiasts for in-depth exchanges. This signifies that the Ethereum Foundation is becoming more actively involved in the ecosystem development of the Hong Kong and Asian communities through more intensive and direct communication.
Focusing on the forefront, discussing the future: a knowledge feast that combines depth and breadth.
The event kicked off with a welcome address by Gavin Wang, Chief Investment Officer of SNZ Holding. Following this, Adrian Li, Ethereum Foundation's Asia Ecosystem Development Liaison, delivered a keynote speech in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, clearly outlining the Ethereum community's strategic development vision and future opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. He also emphasized Ethereum's commitment to cultivating the Asian ecosystem and its strong emphasis on Asian developers.
The three core agendas that follow are precisely focused on the most pressing technological and business frontiers in the current ecosystem:
1. The Path to Compliance for Programmable Privacy: The co-founder of SNZ Holding will lead a discussion on privacy technologies, with in-depth participation from the Ethereum Foundation's Head of Institutional Privacy for Asia Pacific, the Chairman of the Web3 Development Committee of Yunfeng Financial, and the co-founder of Brevis. The discussion will focus on the application of programmable privacy technologies within a compliance framework, breaking down the boundaries of technology applications and implementation paths.
2. From Protocol to Practice: Unlocking the Future of RWA: This session brought together representatives from top industry institutions and projects, including China Asset Management (Hong Kong), Chainlink, HashKey Group, and Asseto, to engage in in-depth discussions on the cutting-edge opportunities and regulatory prospects of on-chain institutional assets, and to explore the differentiated performance of the RWA framework in Hong Kong and globally.
3. A New Chapter in DeFi on Layer 2: Five leaders from leading projects such as Spark, Taiko, Morpho, SuperReturn, and Cap Money will share cutting-edge practices and core insights in building the Layer 2 ecosystem, deeply analyze the key paths of protocol iteration and innovation, and focus on the efficient upgrade of the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem.
More than just events: Building the cornerstone of the Hong Kong Ethereum community
In addition to keynote speeches and roundtable forums, the event included in-depth exchange sessions, providing participants with an efficient communication platform to easily exchange viewpoints and deepen understanding. The Ethereum Foundation team used this opportunity to listen to the genuine needs of community builders, achieving a two-way exchange between cutting-edge perspectives and grassroots voices. At the end of the event, participants toured the Hub, and the hour-long site visit and free-flowing discussions fostered closer relationships, laying the foundation for future collaborations and effectively fulfilling its role as an industry hub.
In the future, the Hong Kong Ethereum Community Hub will regularly host in-depth gatherings on different themes every month, while providing membership services, mobile workstations and private office rental services, and providing multiple event spaces for members to use free of charge. It will continue to nourish the Asian community and create a stable, open and productive collaborative platform to help Hong Kong consolidate its leading position as an Ethereum innovation hub in Asia.
