The biggest bottleneck restricting AI development is energy, and only space can provide sufficient energy, which only SpaceX can supply. If it's just for developing AI for Earth use, that's not like Musk at all. xAI is highly likely to be used to help with missions to Mars. The famous AI (HAL 9000) in *2001: A Space Odyssey* was the ultimate decision-maker on the spaceship to Jupiter and almost killed all the crew members. Musk has also commented on HAL 9000 multiple times, believing it was simply set with the wrong objective function. Perhaps Musk intends to invent his own HAL 9000 and install it on Starship. 😅
