According to Wired magazine, Presearch 's "Doppelgänger" (clone) feature aims to advance a license-based creator discovery mechanism.
For three days in February , porn star Alix Lynx flew to Miami for her first exclusive creators meetup, where she went into full-on work mode: filming Reels short videos and discussing strategies with other creators. “It was like a SoHo House for OnlyFans girls,” she described the experience, which was called “The Circle,” and attracted more than a dozen sex workers, including Remy LaCroix and Forrest Smith.
Lynx, a former webcam model who transitioned into an OnlyFans star, boasts a combined 2 million followers across Instagram, TikTok, and X. She said she had the “luxury advantage of having a built-in fanbase” when she joined OnlyFans in 2017, but those numbers didn’t always translate into subscribers. That’s why she moved to Miami.
“I don’t think people understand. I do a lot of marketing,” Lynx said. “This is the biggest misconception about OnlyFans—creators join thinking it will be easy. But unless you’re a social media marketing genius (which is extremely rare), it’s really hard to be discovered and gain followers.”
Many of OnlyFans' 4 million creators share the same sentiment: the platform's native discovery mechanism is extremely limited. "It's frustrating," Lynx said. "In a perfect world, there should be some form of searchability because it provides a level playing field for creators." Doppelgänger is the latest addition to Presearch's "Spicy Mode" (an NSFW feature for searching adult content). Users can upload photos of celebrities—or anyone they find attractive—to find similar OnlyFans creators. This technology matches users with similar creators who are eager to gain an audience, rather than directing them to unlicensed and illegal Deepfake platforms.
According to the company, Doppelgänger is built on a specific safety barrier—it doesn't track user searches and enforces strict age restrictions—and runs on Presearch's decentralized index, which displays content that traditional search engines and commercial AI often block. Presearch , according to the company, receives 300,000 active searches daily, and Doppelgänger is one of the first tools dedicated to driving permission-based adult creator discovery at scale.
Unlike traditional reverse image tools that scan the open web to pinpoint the location of a photo or attempt to trace someone's identity, Doppelgänger does not search the broader internet, displays personal information, or attempt to identify individuals. It simply returns publicly available archives that are visually similar based on image features, making it more structurally constrained and, in many ways, more privacy-preserving than standard reverse image searches.
Technical limitations remain. In tests reported by Wired magazine, the AI appeared to be more accurate than male celebrities in matching female celebrities. The company stated that gender and race are not used as input features or ranking signals; the model is purely optimized for visual structure. As with many visual similarity systems, cross-gender or unexpected matching results may occur. Presearch stated that it is working to improve the diversity of matching for underrepresented creator groups.
However, for creators like Lynx, this tool represents meaningful infrastructure. “We work incredibly hard, juggling social media, OnlyFans content, live streams, and custom videos. It’s ten times the work of a full-time job. And a discoverability feature could make things a little easier,” she said.
Presearch 's ambitions extend beyond this. The company positions itself as an alternative to algorithmic gatekeepers—the large tech platforms that decide what content, information, or opportunities users see. While Doppelgänger currently scans OnlyFans archives, Presearch aims to collaborate with other creator-driven platforms and eventually expand its discovery to include journalists, independent writers, and creators who struggle to gain traction with traditional search engines.
As consumer adoption grows, Presearch's encryption layer is also quietly maturing in the background.
At the heart of this ecosystem is the PRE token.
