I think the best argument in favor of Anthropic is that they are a bunch of liars Their model is not the super-weapon they claim it is. Every demonstration they make is smoke-and-mirrors and they are addicted to vastly over-stating the capabilities of their own technology. I think this inclination toward hyperbolic over-exuberance about the capabilities of AI is part of their company culture but the truth is that they don't actually believe it themselves The problem is that they have effectively convinced people with a lot of power that their technology is earth shattering and that whoever has un-fettered access to it will probably take over the world. This is, of course, nonsense, but they can't admit that. They're in too deep now.
