Japanese officials told local media that Japan would not send ships simply because of Trump's call, adding that "Japan's independent decision-making is crucial." The South Korean presidential office stated on March 15 that it would carefully consider Trump's call and maintain "close communication" with the US. A spokesperson for the British Ministry of Defence told US media that the UK "is currently discussing a range of options with our allies and partners to ensure the safety of shipping in the region."
