According to ChainCatcher, The Block reports that law enforcement agencies from multiple countries, including the U.S. Secret Service, the UK National Crime Agency (NCA), and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have announced a joint international law enforcement operation codenamed "Operation Atlantic."
This operation aims to combat organized cryptocurrency fraud schemes, focusing on identifying victims who have suffered financial losses or are at risk through "approval phishing." Approval phishing is often associated with so-called "pig butchering" investment scams, where criminals induce victims to grant full access to their cryptocurrency wallets, thereby transferring funds away.
The operation also involved the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the London Metropolitan Police, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, and the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), with support from private sector partners. Building on the success of Project Atlas in 2024, the operation aimed to disrupt fraud in real time through cross-border collaboration.
