According to ChainCatcher, Crypto Labs, a subsidiary of Visa, has released a command-line tool (CLI) that allows AI agents to initiate automated payments directly from the terminal, enabling programmatic transactions "without human intervention".
This tool supports payment capabilities for automated processes such as bots and scripts, eliminating the need to manage API keys. It can be directly used to purchase cloud resources, call API services, and execute inter-machine payments. The product is currently in the testing phase and requires an application via a GitHub account.
Visa stated that as AI moves from "answering questions" to "performing tasks," including automatically procuring computing power, calling services, and making micropayments, payment infrastructure also needs to be upgraded to support "command-line commerce."
In addition, Visa has integrated the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) and collaborated with AI payment standards promoted by industry players such as Coinbase and Cloudflare to accelerate the development of the AI-native payment ecosystem.
