I'm of course quite biased, but the profile of an associate VC actually translates quite well to both comms & people roles:
- well-networked, professional situation monitorer
- great at selling (in VC, you're selling your firm to founders and your deals to partners)
- pattern recognition across companies, industries, and people
- trained to see both the forest and the trees

We’re hiring a director of talent, and my gut is the right person has near-zero recruiting experience. The right person will have the energy of an associate investor but with a passion for collecting great people, rather than companies.
