While speaking to Japanese media, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran is prepared to allow Japanese vessels safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that Iran has not fully closed the waterway but imposed restrictions only on ships from countries involved in attacks against it, and that safe passage for neutral states can be guaranteed with coordination. He added that Iran is not seeking a ceasefire but a complete, lasting end to the war, noting that several countries are pursuing mediation efforts and that Tehran remains open to such initiatives, while criticizing the US for not yet showing readiness for a genuine resolution.
