According to Foresight News , Ethereum Foundation Platform team members Josh Rudolf, Julian Ma, and Josh Stark published an article stating that Ethereum's core role as a permissionless and highly resilient settlement layer, shared state layer, liquidity hub, and DeFi center is to provide differentiated functionality, customized services, control, and innovation, while also bringing additional scalability to the ecosystem. Currently, L2's primary goal has shifted from simply scaling Ethereum to differentiated innovation and control, while L1 needs to continue scaling without sacrificing censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security. A robust L1 will provide a better foundation for L2, and a thriving L2 network will, in turn, strengthen Ethereum's central position and network effects.
The Ethereum Foundation will continue to invest in the following efforts: expanding L1 scale and blob capacity, supporting L2 to deepen privacy and minimize trust, promoting native Rollup technology to achieve synchronous composability, improving L1 liquidity and facilitating L2 access, collaborating with organizations such as L2Beat to enhance L2 security transparency, and focusing on addressing the fragmentation problem of the multi-chain ecosystem.
