Prediction market platform Kalshi faces civil lawsuit in Washington state.

According to a report by Greekwire on March 29th, Mars Finance reported that Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown has filed a civil lawsuit against the prediction market platform Kalshi, accusing it of violating state law by providing entertainment services related to sports predictions, elections, and war events. The lawsuit, filed in King County Superior Court, seeks to prohibit Kalshi from operating in the state, recover lost funds from residents, and impose civil penalties. Kalshi's advertisements implied that users could circumvent local laws to participate in NFL game predictions, demonstrating its "knowing violation." Kalshi responded that it is a federally regulated and compliant trading platform, denies providing a market for war-related events, and expresses confidence in winning the legal battle. This is another regulatory action Kalshi has faced recently, bringing the total number of civil lawsuits against it to over 20. Previously, Arizona prosecutors filed criminal charges against it, considered the first criminal case against a prediction market.
