PANews reported on May 14th that, according to Reuters, the United States has approved approximately 10 Chinese companies to purchase Nvidia's H200 AI chips. Approved companies include Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, and JD.com, with distributors such as Lenovo and Foxconn also authorized. Under the licensing terms, each approved customer can purchase up to 75,000 H200 chips, but no actual deliveries have yet occurred.
The report states that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang accompanied US President Trump on a visit to Beijing this week, hoping to boost H200 sales in China. However, due to regulatory restrictions from both China and the US, and China's efforts to strengthen its domestic AI chip self-sufficiency, related transactions remain stalled.
