According to Mars Finance, Verus confirmed on the X platform that its Verus-Ethereum cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in the theft of ETH, USDC, and tBTC from its Ethereum on-chain contract. Other bridged assets are currently unaffected. The Verus network is currently suspended, and most block-producing nodes have proactively gone offline following the impact of the attack. The development team is fully investigating the scope of the incident, the attack path, and subsequent handling plans, and will release updates as more information becomes available. Verus stated that it is willing to cooperate with relevant law enforcement agencies to pursue legal action; however, if the attackers return all funds, the project is willing to provide a bug bounty and will not pursue further legal action. Verus also warned that anyone claiming to be a member of the Verus team or community and offering "compensation" or "reimbursement plans" in public channels, private messages, or other channels is a scammer. The official statement emphasized that users should not interact with anyone claiming to have compensation programs or offering refunds, and should promptly report such accounts to Discord or the X platform. Previously, it was reported that the Verus Ethereum cross-chain bridge was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $11.58 million.
