On May 25, PANews reported that Pope Leo XIV issued his first encyclical, *Magnifica Humanitas*, in the Vatican, focusing on human dignity and social responsibility in the context of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, automation, and digital technologies. The document emphasizes that AI should serve the common good of humanity, rather than undermining human autonomy, creativity, and moral responsibility. It also calls on governments, technology companies, and international organizations to establish ethically sound technology governance frameworks to prevent algorithmic discrimination, surveillance abuse, and excessive wealth concentration. Leo XIV stated that humans should not outsource moral judgment to machines, and technological progress must be predicated on upholding human value and freedom.
