According to BlockBeats, on June 6, just days after Israel and Lebanon signed a ceasefire agreement, tensions between the two sides deteriorated again. The Lebanese military reported that an Israeli airstrike on a military vehicle in the southern Lebanese region of Nabatiyah on June 6 killed a brigadier general, a captain, and another soldier. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack as a serious violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international law.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the strike, stating that there was "suspicious activity" in the area where the vehicles were located, and intelligence indicated that it might involve Hezbollah operations. They are currently investigating the incident and emphasized that the target was not the Lebanese army.
In addition, the Israeli military launched an airstrike on the village of Saksakiya in southern Lebanon that day, killing at least six civilians and injuring four others. The Lebanese military accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire and withdrawal process due to its continued military operations.
Analysts point out that this attack, which resulted in the death of a senior Lebanese military commander, may put the already fragile ceasefire to the test, especially given that the two sides have just signed a ceasefire agreement and the United States is pushing for a new round of peace plans.
