After the three testnets of Ethereum (Zhejiang, Sepolia and Goerli) have been upgraded in February and March this year, the Ethereum mainnet will finally usher in the Shapella upgrade expected by the community on 4/13. At that time, the pledged ETH will be Withdrawals will be open, and the Ethereum Foundation will also start a live broadcast to witness this historical moment before the upgrade.
Ethereum Shapella Arrives in Mid-April, Pledged ETH Opens for Withdrawal
According to the announcement of the Ethereum Foundation, after the Ethereum final test network Goerli successfully completed the upgrade in March, the Shapella (Shanghai + Capella) upgrade of the Ethereum main network will also be launched at epoch 194048, which is expected to be at 06:00 am on 4/13 Happened at 27:35 (4/12 22:27:35 UTC).
After the upgrade, the node verifiers of the Ethereum beacon chain will be able to get back the pledged ETH. They can choose to stop running the verification node for "full withdrawal", or only get back more than 32ETH (including rewards) for " Partial Withdrawal". In the second case, node validators remain part of the beacon chain and continue to validate the network.
According to the data on Dune Analytics , there are currently about 18 million ETH in pledge, and there are about 562,000 node verifiers.

In addition, only 46% of pledged ETH are in profit, and more than half are still in loss.

Shapella upgrade part two, Shanghai + Capella upgrade
The Shapella upgrade of the Ethereum mainnet is divided into two parts, namely the Shanghai (Shanghai) upgrade of the execution layer and the Capella upgrade of the consensus layer.
In the shanghai upgrade of the executive layer, several improvement proposals are included, namely EIP-3651 , 3855 , 3860 , 4895 and 6049 . The focus of the Capella upgrade of the consensus layer lies in the ETH withdrawal function mentioned above
How does the Shapella upgrade affect you and me?
After the Shapella upgrade, there will be no impact on Ethereum users and ETH holders, but pledgers and node operators need to update the client to the latest version to prevent the client from being trapped on an incompatible chain. Updated information can be found here .
For this major upgrade, the Ethereum Foundation will broadcast live at 05:55 am on 4/13, and you can view it through the following link:
