Independent candidate for the next US President, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Sunday that Blockchain technology could play a key Vai in making government spending transparent and called for Web3 reforms to the federal treasury.
“I will put the entire United States treasury on the Blockchain, allowing every American to XEM every item in the entire budget anytime they want 24/7.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said at a speech in Michigan
Kennedy suggested in a video Chia on Twitter that creating transparency for payments on a publicly distributed ledger would make those in power more accountable. In theory, anyone can see how government spending happens through the thousands and thousands of transactions recorded every day.

Kennedy's latest comments continue his ongoing campaign to promote cryptocurrency technology as a path to improving the nation's economy. For example, last July, the White House proposed the expectation of backing the USD with Bitcoin reserves.
“We will have 300 million eyes in our budget and if someone spends $16,000 on a toilet, everyone will know about it.”
Kennedy referred to a 2018 controversy over the Pentagon's purchasing habits.
Kennedy's promotion of Bitcoin was central to his campaign platform. He was a keynote speaker at Bitcoin 2023 in Miami and has recently appeared more frequently at ETHDenver, an annual Ethereum conference.
Kennedy admitted that while Blockchain can empower citizens to be subject to government surveillance, that same transparency could be used against them. Wary of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), the candidate described the technology as a whirlwind for financial supervision in the United States.
