Nothing is more boring than an engineering thesis, yet that somehow worked out well. The takeaway is that Bitcoiners aren't afraid of conceptually and technologically dense books. The world is already saturated with "Bitcoin 101" content, so why bother? I'm convinced: normies aren't the target audience. The target will be tech-savvy people and investors.

I think my rule of thumb for this book will be to simply write the book that I would want to read. If it orange-pills normies, that's great, but I won't make that the primary aim. I want readers to walk away feeling that Bitcoin is grossly mispriced—as in, it should be trading at 100X its current price. The key, I believe, is to explain Bitcoin's function and value without ever mentioning economics, gold, money, or similar concepts, to completely distinguish it from the "blockchain" and "crypto" categorizations that distract from its true revolutionary potential. twitter.com/JasonPLowery/statu...

Bitcoin will become the base layer of a new, cost-imposing internet for this reason. As our current internet becomes flooded with AI spam, people will turn to Bitcoin to store information they don't want drowned out by AI, which can generate infinite code, comments, and spam at zero marginal cost.

Quantum is the new "Bitcoin is bad for the environment."

As I explained years ago, as warfare increasingly evolves into stalemated, non-lethal contests between swarms of unmanned machines (i.e., drones), people will inevitably realize you can simply park these machines in a warehouse and have them compete against another nation’s machines electronically over the internet—rather than kinetically through 3D space. This would be a non-lethal, abstracted form of warfare, but it would still be a physical competition between machines in pursuit of a political end. And it turns out this “softwar” protocol already exists—and nations have already begun to use it. It’s hiding in plain sight, masquerading as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system called Bitcoin. The first nations to understand this will become digital superpowers... 😉

PoW is the mechanism that determines who gets the administrative priviledge to write the next block. That privilege = a form of administrarive control over the network. The whole point in linking that control to PoW is to make it too costly to gain & maintain that control, i.e. to decentralize it. This was one of the core design changes b/w Finney's RPoW protocol & Nakamoto's RPoW protocol...

The keys and associated signatures are orthogonal to PoW and unrelated except when combined for bitcoin. PoW is not controlling anything other than what is a valid chaintip for consensus.
