I know traders making $10k+ a month using nothing but Price action + support/resistance + volume So I don't reccomend Moving Averages to new traders. However, once you get deeper into your journey, they can be game chaning. I'll explain: Every strategy has an environment where it gets destroyed. - Breakout trades get destroyed in chop - Reversals are terrible when the trend is clean Once you develop your base strategy, THEN moving averages are amazing for narrowing down your optimal market conditions. You can use moving average crossovers, the total number of times price touches the moving average. (I use the 30 smma) - Fewer crossovers means one side (buyers or sellers) is clearly winning. These conditions favor breakouts. - More crossovers mean price keeps switching sides and neither side has control. These conditions favor reversals. ↓
