Kicking off 2026 with a bang: my very first 2 mile “Achilles” ruck workout, inspired by @rektdiomedes! 45lb pack, 30lb dumbbells, and 2 miles of pain! 💪
One of the most important concepts I taught my athletes in the 10+ years I coached high school Track & Cross Country was the essence of competition as “striving together.”
The word competition traces back to the Latin verb “competere,” meaning to “strive together.”
True competition is not a zero-sum conflict between rivals, but a collaboration between partners on a quest for excellence.
Few of us can reach our true potential on our own, whether in sports or in life.
Few athletes set their personal best in training; it’s in the fire of competition where athletes push each other to break through their limits.
Thus, the essence of sportsmanship is an expression of thanks to your competition for carrying you to a place you could not reach on your own.
So, a special thanks to @rektdiomedes and @CurveCap's “Strong as an Ox” fitness community for motivating me to push myself and try new challenges in 2026.
