LLMs are pretty bad at coming up with original jokes, but often they can at least explain why some jokes are funny. I was playing around with a dataset of jokes and noticed one that LLMs tend not to get at all. It's not particularly funny or clever, but it relies heavily on a good theory of mind. On one run, Gemini Pro did manage to get it, but it was the only one. GPT 5.4 Pro, Opus 4.6, and Grok consistently miss it.

If the U.S. wants to compete in strategic technologies, like Micron’s project which produces a key ingredient in the AI supply chain, it must reduce frivolous, rent seeking litigation. AI tools will only empower these people as it trivializes nitpicking on complex rules and 10,000 page documents. (10/10)

A consequence of the Dutch unrealized capital gains taxes is that it will cause a lot of forced selling on January 1st every year. They don't *have* to sell then, but if they don't they're rolling the dice that the price of the assets they own will hold up. In principle market makers, funds, and other financial actors step in to absorb the sudden and concentrated demand for liquidity, but this might so unprecedented that there may be leftover capacity for that trade even after the professionals step in.

Moderna is a US firm. Its mRNA platform was developed at speed with billions in taxpayer support through Operation Warp Speed — the signature achievement of the 1st Trump administration. The same govt that funded this technology is now dismantling it.

If there's a singularity in the next decades, all bets are off anyway and Alphabet's CFO can't plan for that. In the unlikely event that there is not, it means AI probably hit a plateau. In the double unlikely event that AI takes off yet there's no singularity and the economy remains recognizable, then we are in for decades of double digit real rates. Selling very long dated bonds is a good idea. I'm not sure why they should plan for the third option over the second though.
