Capping the ArtBlocks collection at 500, creates a time capsule of some of the earliest on-chain generative works in one clean, soon to be complete, collection.
This body of work can be now studied, analyzed, dissected and collected in many different ways. It also potentially creates a vehicle to advance the genre of Generative Art. Perhaps a museum or institution will want to showcase this collection to save this moment in time. The possibilities are exciting to consider.
However, those possibilities also mean that there’s a fair bit of risk. @artblocks_io was a destination and a launching point for Generative Art, exposing many, myself included to this genre.
I’m not exactly sure what the future holds for Art Blocks and generative art but I know @ArtOnBlockchain isn’t going anywhere and still feels passionately about this space. Excited for the next chapter.
