Did we not spend years fighting against federal agencies unilaterally expanding their authorities beyond any reasonable statutory grant? Agree with Alex. Like GENIUS, you want to see buy-in from the pro-crypto Dems on SBC at least at a superficial level, even if they demand changes before voting for it again before the full Senate (like the Gallego letter demanded) twitter.com/SGJohnsson/status/...

If they're still asking for this (combined with the money transmitting + developer provisions), I would think that's pretty problematic? Not hard to imagine a scenario where a Treas Sec can lean on these provisions to blacklist defi that doesn't have protocol-level compliance

Nugget: The White House’s David Sacks just exited the office of Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC). More than a dozen senators are convening there this morning to discuss the future of crypto market structure legislation. Sacks did not answer reporter questions as he departed.
