@fabdarice shared: By introducing Permit2, x402 expands the exact payment solution from a gas-free payment that only supports EIP-3009 tokens (such as USDC) to a universal gas-free settlement mechanism applicable to any ERC-20 and any EVM chain. While retaining EIP-3009 as the preferred solution, Permit2 serves as a fallback path. Combined with a Proxy + Witness design to prevent fund tampering, and extended through Gas proxy payments and EIP-2612 off-chain signatures, it enables users to complete payments without holding native Gas, laying the foundation for cross-chain and cross-asset payments via Agents.
