this is the MOST SLEPT on thing happening in crypto infrastructure rn
ok, so this @Helium chart is basically showing carrier arbitrage in action
T-Mobile finally figured out they can offload expensive tower traffic to a decentralized network at lower marginal cost and they're pushing 280-300 TB through the network. insane, right?
aggregate carriers are consistently at 100-150 TB/month. that's enterprise grade reliability and repeatable demand if you ask me.
this is actually how most successful protocol businesses work.
ethereum didn't win because of $ETH the currency, it won because it became the settlement layer everyone else built on top of
same pattern here. total network went from 100 TB to 550+ TB (5.5x growth) but the composition shift is what matters.
offload traffic is now 80%+ of total volume
the network effects come from being the offload layer, not from competing with Verizon or any other telecos directly.
wholesale data marketplace > retail mobile carrier
$HNT: the only coin that shows up to work.
