✅ How does Substream technology work?
View original text
Currently, TheGraph supports data indexing technologies (Substream, Subgraph, and TokenAPI) for fast and efficient indexing of on-chain data for over 80 blockchain networks.
Supported networks: Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tron Avalanche, Arbitrum, BNB, Optimism, Polygon, Unichain, etc.
1. Real-time data capture
Blockchains accumulate transactions 24/7, generating tens of thousands of events per second. Substreams captures events occurring on the chain as a real-time stream, continuously tracking changes (transactions, logs, and status) without missing a beat.
2. Processing thousands of blocks at a time
Typical methods require sequential reading and calculation of each block, which is time-consuming. Substreams can process thousands of blocks in parallel, accelerating backfilling of historical data and large-scale historical analysis to minutes.
➜ Past data verification/aggregation, which used to take days, can now be completed much faster.
3. Customized Data Extraction
Most on-chain data is "unnecessary noise." Substreams allows you to filter only the events/addresses/contracts/conditions you want, and process the results (aggregate/normalize/create derived indicators) into the desired format.
➜ Custom pipeline configuration to precisely extract "only the data you want to see."
4. Delivery in an Immediately Utilizable Format
Refined results aren't just stored away; they can be delivered directly to your desired destination, such as an app, dashboard, or server. As soon as data arrives, you can connect it to notifications, decision-making, display, and automation logic.
➜ Operational speed increases with the seamless flow of "collection → refinement → delivery."
