Special shoutout to @TheGivingBlock being willing to join us and their support of nonprofits working in the crypto space. 🎤 SPACES RECAP 👇 📖 HOW KAB STARTED (2000) When founder Shaney jo Darden's 33-year-old friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, she channeled her background as a designer into action. 💜 WHERE "i love boobies!" CAME FROM Shaney drew inspiration from NYC's iconic "I ♥ NY" branding she saw everywhere—bodegas, coffee cups, the subway. She worked with high school friend & DC Shoes colleague Mark Cruz to flip it into something that would grab young people's attention & spark conversations about breast health. 🔢 10M+ WRISTBANDS SOLD The bracelets launched in 2004 on the @VansWarpedTour and exploded. By 2010, they were selling 2M+ per year at $3.95 each. The recent revival has driven an increase in wholesale business largely driven by their partnership with Zumiez. ⚖️ THE SUPREME COURT CASE In 2010, two Pennsylvania middle schoolers were suspended for wearing the bracelets on Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The ACLU stepped in. The case went through 3 years of litigation, all the way to the Third Circuit, which ruled 9-5 in the students' favor. The Supreme Court declined to hear the school's appeal in 2014. Victory: i love boobies! is now protected under the First Amendment. The school spent $107,000 fighting to ban awareness bracelets. 🛹 HISTORY OF COLLABS: BLENDERS, ETNIES & ZUMIEZ Shaney jo started in the skate industry—designing for Toy Machine, Baker, DC Shoes, Etnies. Now @etnies is partnering with KAB for a 25th anniversary capsule collection of footwear. @zumiez carries KAB products nationwide, and 5,572 Zumiez customers downloaded the KAB app in 2023 alone. Coach Prime & @BlendersEyewear launched the PRIME21 MOD sunglasses—rose gold edition—with 100% of profits going to KAB. Blenders has raised $300K+ for KAB over 8 years of partnership. 🎸 WHAT WARPED TOUR MEANT FOR KAB KAB was on @VansWarpedTour from 2001 to its final run in 2018—17 consecutive years. Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman specifically named KAB alongside orgs like To Write Love on Her Arms as groups that "built their organizations from the Warped Tour parking lots." Warped Tour is making a much anticipated return with multiple stops in 206. 🩺 WHAT KAB PLANS IN 2026+ KAB Valley - a wellness retreat center coming to Joshua Tree situated on 10 acres where entire family units will be able to receive services related to their loved ones Battle with breast cancer. 🪙 WHY KAB GOT INTO CRYPTO KAB has always been early to new ways of connecting with young people. They hosted the first breast cancer fundraiser in the Metaverse in 2021 via Cryptovoxels. They accept crypto donations through @TheGivingBlock—tax-efficient giving that reaches new donor demographics. 🤝 WORKING WITH THE GIVING BLOCK @TheGivingBlock is the #1 crypto donation platform for nonprofits. KAB uses it to accept BTC, ETH, and 80+ other cryptocurrencies. Crypto donations are tax-deductible and often more efficient than cash donations. It's opened a new pipeline of supporters. The Giving Block has not only been instrumental in off-ramping funds for KAB, but has provided much needed guidance within the space. ❓ WHY PARTNER WITH A CRYPTO COMMUNITY? KAB's DNA is meeting young people where they are, Warped Tour, action sports, art shows. Crypto communities represent the next generation of engaged, values-driven supporters. When mission aligns with culture, impact scales. It’s the perfect intersection of art culture in a new generation. This is just the beginning. IMO @solana @toly @a1lon9 & @Pumpfun now have a massive opportunity to support and amazing mission driven project.
