Asset management firm WisdomTree has withdrawn its Ethereum Trust S-1 filing more than three years after it was first filed.
“The initial registration was filed on May 27, 2021. The Company confirms that no securities were issued or sold,” the company said in the filing . to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on September 6.
WisdomTree acknowledged that it would not be refunded the fee it paid to the SEC to file the registration but requested that the money be recorded “for future use.”
The initial application was filed in May 2021 to list Ether ETF shares on the Chicago Board Options Exchange's BZX Exchange.
The event comes on the same day as asset management firm VanEck announced it would close Futures Contract based Ether ETF, citing insufficient demand as spot crypto ETFs dominate inflows.
VanEck decided to close the fund due to a variety of factors “including performance, liquidation, Assets Under Management and investor interest,” the company said in a Sept. 6 statement.
