On September 14, the open source AI platform Sentient released the white paper "OML: Opening the Era of AI Entrepreneurship". Today's AI model deployment has two paradigms: open and closed. The open model provides community-driven innovation and resists the trend of centralized AI companies controlling the world. On the other hand, the closed model (accessed through API) enables those centralized AI companies to profit directly through monetization and usage control.
Sentient introduces a new paradigm where models can be Open, Monetizable, and Tokenized (OML). This new way of AI model deployment opens up new possibilities for open source AI development and AI entrepreneurship.
In the whitepaper, we summarize our research on different approaches to OML and detail OML 1.0, an approach to incentivize user reporting and paid usage of publicly distributed models through data pollution attacks and collateral.
