On the evening of September 16, Flappy Bird, the mobile game that once took the world by storm, returned after nearly a decade of absence. This version not only retains the "addictive" gameplay of the past, but is also integrated into layer-1 TON and deployed as a mini-app on Telegram.

A spokesperson for the Flappy Bird Foundation said:
"We have leveraged the power of the TON community and Telegram's superior infrastructure, making it the perfect launch pad for Flappy Bird's return. This not only marks the game's revival, but also opens a new promising chapter where Flappy Bird's potential in the Web3 world is limitless."
Flappy Bird's comeback is "fueled" by recent "stormy" Tap-to-Earn projects such as Notcoin , with Catizen joining as the main publishing partner. Notcoin founder Sasha Plotvinov said in a statement:
"Telegram is becoming an important platform for app and game developers. Famous brands like Flappy Bird will play a key Vai in making this journey more recognizable and enjoyable for users."
Players can now start experiencing the new version of Flappy Bird and participate in the "Flap-a-TON" event, which allows users to mine Token for free while playing the game. The big difference from the original version is that now, each player will have an energy bar, each time playing will consume a part of the energy and players need to upgrade their bird to increase the recovery speed. In addition, the game also launched many new game modes such as Battle Royale, Basketball, ...
Furthermore, the project also revealed its Airdrop plan by asking users to connect their wallets to receive reward points. At the same time, it hinted that completing daily challenges will bring many attractive rewards in the future.
Despite its recent re-release, the Web3 version of Flappy Bird has quickly become embroiled in copyright disputes as the game's creator Nguyen Ha Dong has denied any involvement with the project and stated that he does not support crypto. However, according to information from the Flappy Bird Foundation, they have officially acquired the trademark rights from Gametech Holdings, a company that acquired the trademark rights when Dong Nguyen failed to re-register.
The Flappy Bird Foundation emphasizes that:
"This acquisition process was completely legal and transparent, ensuring that the revival of this iconic game still respects its history. Previously, in 2018, the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted ownership of the trademark to Mobile Media Partners, which was then acquired by Gametech Holdings. On August 23, 2024, the Flappy Bird Foundation officially completed the acquisition from Gametech."
Notably, in a post in 2023, the project's Creative Director Michael Roberts confirmed that he was the "new owner of the Flappy Bird franchise" and was working to bring the game into the Web3 world, creating a new chapter for the classic title.
I'm now officially an owner of the brand/game Flappy Bird! Working with an amazing team to re-launch the game and bring it into Web 3. Big things coming for my ecosystems. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/TKxXWZLZul

Recently, games on Telegram have created great attraction thanks to attractive Airdrop campaigns, attracting a large number of players. Typically, Notcoin Airdrop 80 billion Token to users in May 2024, starting this trend. Next, Catizen is expected to launch an Airdrop on September 20 and Hamster Kombat followed with an Airdrop event on September 27. With the heat from previous games, along with the nostalgia of players for the Web3 version of Flappy Bird, it is likely that it will quickly be FOMOed like its predecessors, not only because of the nostalgia factor but also the great Airdrop potential with direct support from Notcoin.
