Binance Charity has announced a $1 million BNB airdrop to users in Vietnam who were impacted by Typhoon Yagi.
In an effort to assist with the recovery from the devastating effects of Typhoon Yagi in northern Vietnam, Binance Charity will provide $1 million worth of BNB to registered Binance users living in the affected areas.
Affected users will be identified based on their Proof of Address (POA) details, which will confirm their residence in the 25 northern provinces and cities that experienced the worst damage.
Users who completed their POA verification before September 10, 2024, will receive $50 in BNB directly into their Binance accounts. However, recognizing that some users may not be able to meet this deadline, Binance Charity will also provide $20 in BNB to those who registered an account before September 10, 2024, but complete POA verification between September 10 and September 30, 2024.
The aid distribution is set to begin on September 16, 2024.
Binance CEO Richard Teng expressed his support: "We extend our heartfelt condolences to those affected by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. Through this initiative, we hope to offer some relief to those impacted. Binance remains committed to standing by the community during this challenging time."
This isn’t the first time Binance Charity has contributed to Vietnam’s welfare. In the past, it has implemented projects such as installing saltwater filtration systems and donating medical supplies to help alleviate social challenges in the country.
To receive support, Binance users must verify their address in the 25 northern provinces affected by Typhoon Yagi, including Hà Giang, Cao Bằng, Bắc Kạn, Lạng Sơn, Tuyên Quang, Thái Nguyên, Phú Thọ, Bắc Giang, Quảng Ninh, Lào Cai, Lai Châu, Yên Bái, Điện Biên, Sơn La, Hòa Bình, Bắc Ninh, Hà Nam, Hanoi, Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Hưng Yên, Nam Định, Ninh Bình, Thái Bình, and Vĩnh Phúc.
Note: Users who have already created an account, completed KYC, and verified their residential address will receive the BNB on September 16. Those who haven’t completed KYC must do so by September 30, 2024, to be eligible for the aid.
