Ethereum developers will decide whether Pectra will split into two forks at a consensus meeting on Thursday

On Thursday, Ethereum developers will decide whether Pectra will be split into two forks at the upcoming Ethereum core developer consensus meeting. If developers agree to split, the first software package may be launched in 2025 (as early as February). Among them, the first part of Pectra will include Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), including EIP-7702, which aims to improve wallets. The second part will see EIPs designed to upgrade the Ethereum virtual machine (called EOF). EF researcher Ansgar Dietrichs said that Ethereum developers do not have much objection to the possibility of forking, but one disadvantage is pushing EIP-7594 (ie PeerDAS) to the second package. PeerDAS aims to improve data availability on Ethereum, and with the delay in the launch of this feature, the fees of the second-layer blockchain may be slightly higher for the time being. (Coindesk)
