Solana Labs subsidiary Solana Mobile unveiled its second cryptocurrency smartphone at the TOKEN2049 event held in Singapore on Thursday, officially called the “Solana Seeker.”
Previously known as “Chapter Two,” the device was first tested in January of this year for the cheaper successor to the popular Solana Saga. According to Solana Mobile, pre-orders for the new series have now surpassed 140,000 units in 57 countries. The phone was developed in collaboration with hardware company Fxtec and is expected to ship in mid-2025, Emmett Hollyer, CEO of Solana Mobile, Chia The Block.
Emmett Hollyer said:
“The response to the launch of Chapter Two — with over 140,000 pre-orders and excitement from the community — has been incredible. The entire Solana ecosystem has come together behind the mission of developing web3 mobile devices.”
The product’s name “Seeker” is inspired by a quote from British writer and speaker Alan Watts: “A seeker is someone who understands there is more than meets the eye, who is not afraid and makes the decision to venture into the unknown,” says Hollyer. “That’s the kind of person we’re building this for,” he adds.
“We believe the name ‘Seeker’ captures the essence of both the device and its users,” Hollyer added.
“If the name ‘Saga’ represents the story of bringing mobile web3 to Solana, then ‘Seeker’ represents the device’s discovery capabilities.”
