Bithumb, one of South Korea's largest crypto trading platforms, has shaken the market with a serious internal incident related to the distribution of rewards to users. According to industry sources, an exchange operator accidentally entered incorrect data during an Airdrop program, resulting in the system recording the equivalent of 2,000 BTC instead of the 2,000 won (approximately $1.50) reward for some user accounts.
This error immediately created chaos on Bithumb 's trading platform as hundreds of accounts suddenly discovered an unusual surge in their Bitcoin balances. Many users quickly sold the received BTC , causing the price of Bitcoin on the exchange to plummet by about 10% compared to the price on other international exchanges. This sudden price discrepancy attracted the attention of the global crypto trading community and raised concerns about the internal control systems at centralized exchanges.
