Additionally, despite 42 U.S. officials calling for the SEC to rescind SAB 121, Gensler stated that the provision will remain in effect, saying, "No, that's a good accounting bulletin," in response to a question from Congressman Wiley Nickel about whether the SEC will rescind the rule. Gensler stated that it will help public companies understand the risks of holding cryptocurrencies, citing the bankruptcies of FTX, Terraform Labs, and other crypto companies.
