Recently, at the Hello World event held in San Francisco, the co-founders of Worldcoin (now known as World Network), Alex Blania and Sam Altman, introduced major updates to the World Network that have been made over the past five years. They stated that these updates will play a critical role in the infrastructure construction and accelerate the global expansion of the technology. The five key updates are as follows:
- Next-Generation Orb Device: Faster and more efficient, improving the scalability of human identity verification.
- World ID 3.0: Introducing World ID credentials and "deep face recognition" functionality.
- World App 3.0: Adding a mini-app platform to enhance application integration capabilities.
- World Chain Mainnet Launch: A blockchain network designed for human activities.
- Worldcoin Renamed to World Network: Expanding the worldview to reflect the project's global vision.
Next-Generation Orb Adopts Nvidia Jetson Chip
The next-generation Orb showcased at the Hello World event is equipped with the latest NVIDIA Jetson chip, significantly improving AI performance and dramatically increasing operational efficiency. Both the hardware and software have been extensively upgraded, making the verification process faster and more efficient.
Furthermore, the new Orb design is more simplified, with a 30% reduction in the number of components, and supports removable external SD cards, enabling comprehensive auditing. These improvements enable new operational models, such as temporary deployment of devices at events, specific regions, or certain time periods, expanding to more use cases and future needs.

The design of the next-generation Orb has significantly improved scalability and transparency. It is equipped with 5G connectivity, enabling reliable operation even in remote areas without Wi-Fi, aligning with the decentralization goal and addressing previous Worldcoin's biometric privacy concerns. In the future, third parties will also be able to more easily produce Orbs, increasing the adoption of World ID verification. It is worth noting that the announcement also mentions that the next-generation Orb will soon be launched in Taiwan.

According to the introduction of the new World App 3.0, the World Network positions it as the next-generation super app, aiming to provide users worldwide with a more comprehensive digital service experience. As the latest iteration of this application, World App 3.0 seamlessly integrates chat, financial tools, and digital identity management into a single platform, allowing users to perform operations such as transfers, payments, communications, and identity verification, breaking down the barriers between various functionalities.
World App 3.0: Aspiring to Create a Super App for All Humanity
The new World App further enhances the existing financial service functions. Users can not only easily make cross-border transfers within the app but also use the integrated digital identity authentication feature for secure identity management. Additionally, the in-app chat function provides users with a secure encrypted communication space, making global communication and transactions more convenient. The World App has three major updates:
World App Wallet
The World App Wallet is now the third-largest cryptocurrency wallet globally, with over 1.5 billion transactions and $15 billion in transaction volume. Through World App 3.0, the wallet has been redesigned and integrated with World Chain, increasing the transaction speed by 90% and enhancing its practicality and usability.
Mini Apps Platform
The introduction of the new Mini Apps platform allows third-party applications to run directly within the World App and anonymously integrate with World ID, the wallet, and contacts. Users can engage in chat, transfers, top-ups, and exclusive interactions through Mini Apps. For developers, Mini Apps offer the advantages of simple development and integration.
Security Enhancements
World App 3.0 provides new features to enhance security, particularly through World ID verification. Users can store information from NFC-enabled passports on their devices, anonymously proving their age, nationality, and other details without exposing their personal identity. Additionally, the World ID Deep Face feature, set to launch this fall, will protect users from deep fakes through real-time face verification, ensuring interaction with genuine humans.
