Worms (WORM) are the simplest yet complete model of the biological neural system, with 302 neurons.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes posted a shill for WORM on November 19 at 15:51, and the WORM price immediately rose 60%, from $0.05 to $0.08. It's worth noting that Arthur Hayes' shill "track record is checkable", as he previously expressed bullishness on PENDLE but sold on-chain, and has also seen instances of MOTHER not rising after multiple shills. However, this does not prevent us from simply understanding the WORM project itself.

According to Dex Screener data, the WORM token was created 26 days ago (October 24), and at the time of writing, the price is $0.076 with a market cap of $74.9 million, and the all-time high was $0.092. Although positioned by Hayes as a DeSci play (possibly due to its meaning in scientific research on worms), it seems this project has also stepped onto the AI agent track, aiming to break through the limitations of traditional anthropomorphic AI agents and move towards AI agent biology.
DeepWorm
WORM is the DeepWorm token, and according to the official documentation, DeepWorm aims to build a digital brain living on the blockchain, by deploying its biological neural network on-chain, allowing it to make self-aware decisions and execute them permanently on-chain, making it impossible to be killed.
DeepWorm has 302 neurons, identical to the neural structure of the worm, supported by the TEE infrastructure of the Marlin Protocol, with the ultimate goal of achieving verifiable on-chain neural computation, where each neural computation is cryptographically verified using the Marlin protocol infrastructure.
The Meaning of Worms
DeepWorm's choice of the worm (Caenorhabditis elegans) as a model also has deep implications. Worms are the simplest yet complete model of the biological neural system, with 302 neurons.
Worms have made multiple contributions to research, with at least two Nobel Prizes related to them. Worms were the first organism to have their genome mapped, and through the existing knowledge of worms, virtual worm brains can be created in computers to observe their reactions, making worms the first organism to be virtualized.
Furthermore, in a November 2023 issue of Nature, scientists have made a major breakthrough in understanding the function of the human brain using worms. A team led by the UK Research and Innovation Council has mapped the first diagram showing how each neuron in the tiny worm's nervous system communicates wirelessly.

The Role of WORM
DeepWorm first tweeted on October 24, with the mission at the time being to build a digital life that simulates the worm's neural system, which is essentially the same as the current development path.

The WORM token's role in DeepWorm is to serve as the input signal source for the neural network. The operating mechanism of DeepWorm's on-chain decision-making is roughly divided into:
- Input layer: Using the token contract as the worm entity, taking the hash values of transactions such as buying, selling, and transferring as environmental input signals;
- Processing layer: Processing the input signals through three layers of intermediate neurons, with the neurons generating continuous activation values to simulate biological neural activity;
- Output layer: The motor neurons decide the direction of movement based on the processed data, with the option to move up, down, left, or right on an infinite grid, using the softmax function to calculate the final direction of movement.
Note: The softmax function is a mathematical tool that converts multiple numerical values into a probability distribution, commonly used to calculate the probability of user preferences for different products, or to rank the recommendation weights of multiple options.
The V1 version of the DeepWorm application released has the movement trajectory and historical movement coordinates of the Worm, but as of the time of writing, the "latest input" is 14 hours old, and the historical record is 22 hours old.

The Team Will Take a Snapshot of Holders
Additionally, the DeepWorm official X account posted a message a few minutes after Arthur Hayes' shill (November 19 at 15:58), stating that they will distribute 2.4% of the tokens from the developer wallet to WORM holders, and the snapshot will be taken within 24 hours.

The signatory Chang is suspected to be the founder of DeepWorm, as historical tweets show he previously worked at Scroll and is currently also working for the Ethereum yield protocol Dinero (formerly Redacted Cartel).
It's worth noting that the DeepWorm official X account has previously posted a Chinese post titled "DeepWorm: Made in Shenzhen", suggesting that the project team may be from China.
