Nexon's blockchain game project 'MapleStory Universe' will be officially launched in the first half of next year. Nexon has launched the second pioneer test for the MapleStory Universe ahead of its launch.
On the 20th, Nexspace, Nexon's blockchain subsidiary, announced that it will conduct the second pioneer test from today (20th) to the 29th for the launch of MapleStory Universe in the first half of next year. Nexspace plans to verify various decentralized applications (DApps) such as the blockchain-based PC massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'MapleStory N' as well as the marketplace and explorer through this test.
Unlike the previous first test, which was conducted on a scale of about 1,000 people, this test will be an open beta test (OBT) in which anyone can participate. In addition to gamers who access to play 'MapleStory N', MapleStory intellectual property (IP) fans can also experience various functions of the ecosystem and receive rewards. For example, even if users do not play the game, they can connect their blockchain wallet to the official website and receive a daily experience point (EXP) coupon by checking in daily. These coupons can be sold on the marketplace to acquire the in-game currency NESO.
Various rewards have also been prepared for users. Users can participate in the 'MapleStory N Daily Check-in Event' and the 'NXPC Competition Event' to obtain NXPC tokens, which serve as the base currency of the MapleStory Universe. The total reward amount is set at 5 million NXPC, and detailed information on reward acquisition will be announced separately soon.
During the second pioneer test, the 'Make Special Name' event will also be held. Users can acquire alphabet Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and number NFTs as rewards through game play, and combine them to pre-occupy character nicknames. Given that popular character nicknames in the original MapleStory game have been traded for around 30 million won, fierce competition among users is expected.
A Nexspace official said, "Based on the results verified in this second pioneer test and user feedback, the MapleStory Universe is scheduled to be officially launched in the first half of next year with improved completeness."
