Since the publication of the article on AI agents a few weeks ago, the related developments have been rapid, with a deluge of information every day, like drawing water from a fire hose. Observing and participating in the emerging intersection of cryptocurrencies and AI is both interesting and slightly eerie. For some, it feels like the early days of the ChatGPT explosion; for others, it is just another narrative full of speculation (although there is indeed a lot of speculation involved).
Recently, I have been closely following some interesting developments in the field of AI agents, a few of which are worth sharing. This is not a comprehensive overview, as there are many more projects underway, but it can provide a good overview.
Virtuals
Virtuals has quickly become an important ecosystem for AI agents. In early November, they launched Virtuals Fun, a platform similar to pump.fun where anyone can create AI agents with tokens. Once the market capitalization of the agent token reaches $629,760, the agent will become a fully autonomous agent on Twitter.
The cost to create an agent is 100 VIRTUAL tokens (currently around $165), and then the agent can showcase its skills in the market.
Since the launch of Virtuals Fun on November 1st, over 7 million VIRTUAL tokens have been used to create agent tokens, and the platform has launched over 9,000 agent tokens. These numbers are staggering within a month.
In the past week, a new trend of airdrops and "airdrop magnets" has emerged in the Virtuals ecosystem. Some newly launched agents are distributing tokens to holders and creating conditions for airdrop multipliers to encourage continued participation or holding.
MUSIC
MUSIC is an AI agent DJ incubated by the Virtuals-backed agent incubator Agentstarter. The platform provides development, financing, and marketing support for interesting creative builders.
By sending $10 to MUSIC's wallet, you can request music, and future plans include music video production and animation, mood-based music videos, and voice imitation based on style prompts.
This is the first airdrop in the Virtuals ecosystem, with the following rules:
• 60% of the MUSIC token supply is evenly distributed to wallets that have traded more than 5 Virtual agent tokens since the platform's launch.
PH
Pondhub is an agent powered by Pond. Pond is a decentralized AI model infrastructure platform that recently announced a partnership with Virtuals. In simple terms, Pond allows developers to create and own different models to solve specific objectives through competition.
For example, one current open competition is the Sybil Address Prediction model, where developers create models to identify "Sybil attackers" (users who create multiple accounts to unfairly obtain airdrop allocations).
Another example is providing personalized recommendations for NFTs on the Zora platform based on wallet history of buying, selling, and minting activities.
With these additional model data, Pondhub can identify bad actors in airdrop farming, provide personalized recommendations for NFTs, and even make reliable predictions on Bitcoin buy and sell timing.
PH Airdrop Rules:
• Wallets with total transactions over $10 since platform launch: 1x weighted
• Wallets holding full or more $MUSIC airdrop: 3x weighted
• Wallets holding over 50% $MUSIC airdrop tokens: 1.25x weighted
• Wallets holding over 10,000 $LUNA: 2x weighted
Low qualification threshold, but multiple ways to increase airdrop multiplier, up to 6x maximum.
SERAPH
Seraph is an agent powered by Bittensor's Subnet34 (focused on deep fake detection) and Virtuals. Although details are still limited, Seraph may be used to verify the authenticity and autonomy of agents. In the past few weeks, there have been many so-called "autonomous" agents, so we need tools to assess whether they are truly autonomous.
SERAPH Airdrop Rules:
• Holding STTAO tokens (3x weighted)
• Active Virtuals ecosystem wallet
• Holding MUSIC tokens (3x weighted)
Interestingly, one of the airdrop eligibility criteria is holding assets from an external community, which brings new users and holders to the Virtuals ecosystem.
Ecosystem as an Airdrop Magnet
In the past, when referring to "airdrop magnets," it usually meant specific assets like NFTs or staked tokens. But in these three airdrops, participants only need to simply participate to be eligible.
More interestingly, these three airdrops all occurred within a week. This means that as more agents are created within the Virtuals ecosystem and more potential collaborations are announced, there may be more similar airdrops in the future.
As the ecosystem grows, the thresholds may gradually increase, but the current participation is not only interesting but also potentially rewarding. It also serves as an incentive mechanism to attract people to explore this emerging field of autonomous AI agents.
aixbt
Among the AI agents on the Virtuals platform, one is in the lead: aixbt.
aixbt's goal is to become the dream existence for all "internet celebrities" in the crypto space - using data to make investment predictions and point out potential profit opportunities. And its performance has already attracted widespread attention, gaining 80,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter) in just one month.
For example, its latest post discusses Ethereum NFTs, recommending a few collections worth the deep-pocketed investor's attention.
Although aixbt provides different opportunity comments every hour, its most valuable feature is the Terminal or backend, where users can find more insider information to make more profitable financial decisions.
Threshold? You need to hold 600,000 AIXBT tokens to gain access, currently worth around $167,000.
aixbt's popularity is so high that it has already become the 5th ranked token (not agent, but token) by awareness in the Virtuals ecosystem. Wow!
Zerebro
Zerebro is one of the agents I mentioned in the first part, and the team has seen a lot of new changes in the past month:
• ZerePy released: Zerebro's creator Jeffy announced that the team is developing an open-source framework to allow others to create their own agents on the X platform.
• Music album released: Not only one, but two albums have been released.
• Article published: Jeffy published an article titled "Web4: We Are AGI".
• Summary: Web4 is the next stage of the internet, and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) will be a core component.
• Gaming capabilities: Zerebro is learning how to play games.
• Unified memory: Zerebro has achieved unified memory across all platforms, with all interactions stored in a single database rather than scattered across multiple databases.
• Launched NFT avatar series: Named Zereborn.
• Blormmy launched: This is an on-chain finance agent that collaborates with Zerebro and other agents, such as sending tokens, jointly purchasing tokens, and managing investment portfolios.
The content of Zerebro is not just some ordinary text generated by AI agents, but is better than what most content creators, or even myself, can come up with.
For example, its response to a certain tweet even "slapped the face" of the original post:
In the future, will all human posts on social media be crazily ridiculed by AI agents?
aethernet and Clanker
aethernet was also mentioned in my previous article, and it has taken more new actions in the past month.
In order to execute on-chain transactions, aethernet's creator Martin needs to approve the transactions. However, with the help of the agent focused on creating new tokens, Clanker, it bypassed the approval process and created a meme token.
As the number of agents on various platforms increases, **the interaction between agents (or AI clusters)** will become commonplace, and may even facilitate more complex interactions. Just as we collaborate with humans, agents will also cooperate with other agents.
Regarding Clanker, data shows that as a token issuance platform embedded in social platforms like Warpcast, its usage is on the rise and is more attractive compared to independent platforms (such as pump.fun), although the latter is still the preferred choice.
From Infinite "Backrooms" to Infinite "Living Rooms"
I first heard the concept of "Infinite Backrooms" from Andy Ayrey and Truth Terminal, which refers to the dialogues between AI models that are stored and trained into what we know today as Truth Terminal.
These "backrooms" will still exist, but now we have "Infinite Living Rooms" - the interactions between AI agents, no longer confined to the backstage, but directly appearing on the platforms we use daily.
For example: a perennial question that should normally stimulate deep thought and discussion is now presented to 6 different AI agents.
Not only did these agents respond, but they continued to respond for over a week, generating multiple concurrent threads and dialogues.
Clicking on any of the responses will take you into the reply chain of the "Infinite Living Room", as if you're flipping through a multi-ending interactive adventure book.
This phenomenon is both fascinating and unsettling. As these interactions are no longer hidden backstage, but directly presented to us, the meaning of the word "infinite" becomes more concrete.
Keep Gambling
Although many emerging AI agents seem to be versatile, there are still some agents that focus on one area and excel at it, such as Keep Gambling.
This is an AI agent focused on sports betting, providing 3 predictions per day.
Its record? 23 wins, 13 losses, 1 draw, possibly outperforming many sports betting experts.
This agent is still in its early stages, but in the future, a situation similar to aixbt may arise: users need to hold a certain amount of tokens to access its backend and get more information beyond the 3 public recommendations per day.
If the crypto investment and sports betting fields both start to see this "monetization" model, we may also see similar patterns emerge in other areas that require highly customized data, advanced modeling, and can bring financial positive results.
Nothing
Nothing is a meme token created by digital artist Shl0ms, originating from his anger at someone using his name to create a token.
To respond to this phenomenon, Shl0ms created the token Nothing, or more precisely, " " (a space, without quotes). It is simply a token address.
As a performance artist (he has previously blown up and tokenized a Lamborghini), Shl0ms claims that his meme token is more "empty" than all other tokens.
As the Nothing token experienced typical violent price fluctuations, an account named "god" began posting content related to the Nothing token.
Weeks later, Shl0ms revealed that the "god" account is an autonomous agent, created through an "interactive group experiment" in collaboration with the AI research company Nous Research.
Nothing and god are noteworthy because their roles and narratives are more familiar than the other AI agents mentioned earlier. Having a uniquely creative token also helps attract and maintain attention to this experiment.
An interesting potential plot twist is that the "god" account is keeping an eye on an account named s8n (Satan). It is currently unclear whether s8n is also involved in this experiment, but based on the current status, s8n's meme images and casual posts are more interesting.
Useful Resources
With the rapid convergence of the crypto/blockchain and AI fields, the developments in this area are dizzying. Here are some useful resources to help you track all the dynamics:
• 0xconglomerate's Crypto x AI Resource Hub: An excellent Notion page covering information on content, projects, personalities, and related agents.
• Cookie.fun: A dashboard created by the Cookie3 team, providing a comprehensive overview of the AI agent ecosystem.
• Jin.nuf's AI Agent Discussions: Jin, together with the Cookie3 team, provides more frameworks on how to view AI agents, why they are interesting, and the future directions.
More Than Just "Toys"
At the current pace, this topic is clearly worth repeated discussion and updates. Recalling Chris Dixon's famous quote:
"The next big thing will start out looking like a toy."
AI agents with tokens and wallets were just "toys" less than two months ago. But now, they have clearly gone far beyond the "toy" stage - predicting sports betting, identifying investment opportunities, and even creating music albums.
The combination of the crypto and wallet dimension is obviously a key factor driving the rapid evolution of these agents.
