▌Craig Wright, Who Claims to Be Satoshi Nakamoto, Sentenced to 12 Months in Prison, Suspended for 2 Years
Australian scientist Craig Wright, who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto, was found guilty of contempt of court and sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 2 years. It is reported that he appeared in court via video link, refusing to disclose his exact location, but said he would appeal.
Previously, Wright had initiated a £900 billion "legal battle" over intellectual property rights. In March this year, a UK judge ruled that Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto. The Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) first sued Wright in April in an attempt to prevent Wright from claiming copyright over the Bitcoin whitepaper and database. During the trial, two key figures testified, including Adam Back, a pioneer of the Bitcoin proof-of-work consensus system.

▌German Regulator Orders Worldcoin to Delete Biometric Eye Scan Data
The Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision has ordered Worldcoin's human verification project to delete biometric data collected through eye scans. Worldcoin stated that it has changed its processes, and the German regulator's findings largely relate to outdated operations and technology that have been replaced since 2024.
The Bavarian Data Protection Regulatory Office concluded its investigation that began in April 2023, stating in a statement on Wednesday that Worldcoin is obligated to provide a deletion procedure in accordance with GDPR within one month of the decision taking effect, and to delete certain previously collected data records without a sufficient legal basis.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that measures have been taken in the past few months to alleviate the regulator's concerns, including transitioning Worldcoin to a system that no longer stores biometric data. To comply with GDPR, the iris codes used to verify individual World IDs will no longer be stored, and previously collected iris codes will be voluntarily deleted to ensure no personal data is retained for World ID operations.

Rollup is a way of processing transactions on Layer 2 protocols, which can free up valuable space on the underlying layer. Rollup will batch transactions on the second layer, sometimes batching dozens at a time, and then roll them up together before sending the data back to Layer 1. There are two main types of Rollup, Optimistic and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs. Optimistic Rollup is a fairly straightforward term. This means that Rollup runs on an "optimistic" approach, assuming transactions are valid unless a validator proves them wrong. They only check the validity of transactions in the event of a dispute. ZK Rollup will prove transactions without revealing any transaction data. Hence the term "zero-knowledge". ZK Rollup provides instant finality, as the cryptographic proof guarantees the data is valid. In many ways, Rollup to your standard blockchain transaction is like a Calzone to a regular pizza slice. By rolling, you can fit more in.
