Recently, AltLayer has announced that it has been sponsored by the Eigen Foundation with 1 million EIGEN tokens, and the project has decided to airdrop all of these tokens to users.

On December 20, the infrastructure provider for Second-Layer Solutions AltLayer has been sponsored by the Eigen Foundation with 1 million EIGEN tokens. This is an important milestone, recognizing the contributions of AltLayer to EigenLayer in the process of formation and development.

According to the announcement, the entire 1 million EIGEN token reward will be redistributed by AltLayer to the community, in which:
- 500,000 EIGEN will be the first to be airdropped to those holding reALT tokens or staking reALT into EigenLayer from May 9, 2024 to December 12, 2024.
- The remaining 500,000 EIGEN will be distributed in 2025 when EigenLayer v2 is officially launched.
Users can now access the official AltLayer website to check and claim EIGEN. The EIGEN airdrop program from AltLayer starts from December 20, 2024 and lasts until February 20, 2025,
However, users from sanctioned or restricted areas such as the United States, Canada, China and many other countries will not be eligible to receive the airdrop to ensure compliance with international legal regulations.
AltLayer has been associated with EigenLayer from the early days, even before the EigenLayer smart contracts were announced. To date, AltLayer is increasingly affirming its important role as the second largest AVS unit in the EigenLayer ecosystem, serving 18 AVS with a large user base.
In addition, AltLayer is a pioneer in introducing the Restaked Rollup model through three vertically integrated AVS called MACH, VITAL and SQUAD. As of the time of writing, AltLayer has successfully deployed 5 AVS, recording a total Staked value of up to $23.67 billion.
