Comtec System, an affiliate of ITcen, announced on the 20th that it won the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the '1st Software Company Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Management Awards' hosted by the Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA).
The company explained that this award is a great achievement that externally recognizes the systematic ESG management efforts of the ITcen Group, and that it has been evaluated as having a positive impact on spreading the value of ESG management in the software (SW) industry.
This ESG management target evaluation was conducted based on the 'Software Company ESG Management Diagnosis' model announced by KOSA last November. Unlike the existing ESG diagnosis centered on the manufacturing industry, it is characterized by applying evaluation items and criteria specialized for the IT and SW industries. The purpose is to diagnose the ESG management status of the SW industry and support preparation for global issues.
Early this year, the IT Cen Group formed an integrated task force team (TFT) and carried out activities to establish and internalize an ESG management system targeting major affiliates. Through ESG self-diagnosis by affiliate, detailed strategies and implementation tasks were established for each area, and stakeholder participation and communication were strengthened through internal and external sharing of in-house education and TFT promotion activities.
In particular, Comtec Systems, as a listed company and a priority subject to ESG disclosure regulations, has made efforts to establish best practices on behalf of the group and spread them to affiliates. The company cited the following as its major ESG management achievements: △possession of international environmental and safety certifications, △establishment of eco-friendly work processes, △increased employee diversity, △strengthening labor-management communication, and △operation of community coexistence programs.
In particular, the company was recognized for its efforts to create a sustainable corporate culture and socially responsible management, including managing energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions, introducing renewable energy for solar power generation in the new building, expanding employment of the disabled through the establishment of a subsidiary-type standard workplace for the disabled, holding quarterly labor-management councils and information sharing meetings, and supporting youth preparing for independence majoring in IT.
Comtec Systems CEO Kwon Chang-wan said, “This award is the result of the strong will of top management for ESG management and the cooperation of all employees,” adding, “We will continue to establish ourselves as a leading company that creates a sustainable corporate ecosystem and fulfills its social responsibility.”
