Blockstream co-founder: Quantum computing will enhance Bitcoin signatures, making its network more powerful

Odaily reported that Adam Back, the co-founder and CEO of Blockstream, the inventor of Hashcash, and a well-known cryptographer in the industry, said that quantum computing may make the Bitcoin network even stronger. Industry insiders have previously expressed concerns that due to the progress of quantum physics, quantum computing can perform computational processes at an unprecedented speed, and therefore may potentially break encryption algorithms in the future. Back wrote in that "post-quantum (PQ) will take at least several decades," which is why hash-based PQ schemes are never viable: "PQ signature research will ultimately produce conservative, well-scrutinized, more compact signatures that Bitcoin can adopt as an alternative option."
