Several cryptocurrency projects that experienced significant growth in 2024 are expected to conduct Token Generation Events (TGEs) in Q1 2025.
Platforms like Monad and Pump.fun have raised major investments throughout the year due to increasing participation and key developments. These projects are likely to launch their own Tokens in Q1.
Upcoming TGEs to Spur Crypto Market Competition
Blockchain analyst Colin Wu posted a list of potential TGE projects on SNS. There was little commentary from his team explaining their rationale. The analyst had previously predicted the launch of Hyperliquid's HYPE Token by the end of 2024. The Q1 2025 list includes both existing projects and new entries.
For instance, Wu had previously predicted that Monad would conduct a TGE in 2024, and it is currently listed as a strong contender. Monad saw significant success last summer. The TGE could help it raise more capital in 2025. However, he no longer lists Monad as the most likely project, instead giving that position to Pump.fun.
Pump.fun is a Solana-based meme coin platform that has recently faced market turmoil. Exceeding $100 million in revenue, the platform has drawn criticism from the community.
The platform's unique feature of live streaming has since been abused by traders to promote harmful content. Reports indicate that most users trading Pump.fun Tokens have incurred losses. These claims have particularly caught the attention of regulatory authorities in the UK.
Wu and his team mentioned several successful fundraising activities that could enable TGEs. Story Protocol was one of the largest VC fund recipients in the crypto industry in August, but still lacks a Token.
Similarly, Polymarket had announced a Token launch, but nothing materialized after the pre-election trading frenzy.
This research includes useful data points on the potential amount and sources of investment capital prior to Token launches. Polychain supported several large-scale airdrops in December, which could be a strong signal of potential TGEs and/or airdrops in the near future.
