<ZKsync>, the famous layer-2 scaling solution on Ethereum, is booming again after launching the <Ignite Program>. This event has driven ZKsync's <TVL> to increase by more than 104%, from $97 million to $198.4 million, in the first week of January, according to data from <defillama>.

Ignite Program details

<Ignite Program> is an initiative by ZKsync to encourage liquidity on the network. The program is divided into multiple seasons, with a total of 300 million ZK tokens to be pumped into the ecosystem over 9 months.

The first season runs from 01/06 to 03/31. During this period, ZKsync will distribute up to 100 million ZK (equivalent to $20 million) to users providing liquidity on ZKsync Era's DEXs, lending platforms, and derivative trading platforms. Subsequent seasons will continue to distribute the remaining 200 million tokens.

Users can participate in trading on major DEXs like <SyncSwap>, <Uniswap>, <PancakeSwap>, derivative trading platforms like <Holdstation> and lending platforms like <Aave>.

ZKsync's ambitions for 2025

ZKsync is a layer-2 solution that helps expand dApps on the Ethereum platform. The project uses ZK rollup technology, which increases processing capacity and reduces transaction costs by bundling multiple transactions and processing them off-chain. ZKsync has attracted attention from the DeFi community and blockchain application developers due to its superior scalability and high security.

However, since the <token airdrop> in June, with 3.6 billion tokens, ZKsync has seen a decline in user activity and liquidity. Although the airdrop was highly anticipated, it led to a user and liquidity exodus from the network, with daily transaction volume dropping sharply from its previous peak.

The 7-day moving average of active addresses has dropped from over 200,000 in July 2024 to just 30,000 by the end of December. Other ZK rollups like <Linea>, <Scroll> and <Starknet> have also struggled similarly. However, Linea is currently leading in the number of active user addresses among ZK rollups, which may be due to Linea not having issued a token yet and the "airdrop hunting" potential still being high.

Despite facing some challenges in 2024, ZKsync is still holding firm to its ambitious goals for the new year. ZKsync plans to reduce transaction fees to just $0.0001 and increase transaction speed to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS). Additionally, ZKsync will continue to improve the <Elastic Network> and ZK Stack to become the optimal choice for blockchain developers.
