DeFAI, which is DeFi + AI, simplifies the complex DeFi interface and operations through AI technology, reducing the participation threshold for ordinary people and making DeFi more accessible. DeFAI has built a grand vision - in the future, through AI Agents and various AI-empowered platforms, managing one's investment portfolio will be as simple as chatting with ChatGPT, and everyone can participate in decentralized market transactions without barriers.

The DEFAI projects currently on the market can be roughly divided into three categories: assistant type, to simplify operations; trading type, to assist investment decisions; and dApps type, to build an ecosystem. The author will review each category of projects one by one.

Assistant Type

Before AI, "intent narration" has been trying to simplify the use of defi platforms, like platforms such as CoWSwap and symm io that allow users to obtain the best pricing in decentralized liquidity pools, solving the problem of liquidity fragmentation, but they have not solved the core problem: DeFi still feels difficult.

Currently, AI-driven solutions are filling this gap, where users only need to express their intent and the AI agent can directly complete the instructions.

Griffain

Griffain is a brand new AI Agent built on the Solana blockchain. Its design aims to simplify the way users interact with cryptocurrencies by integrating personal and professional AI agents. Griffain can automatically complete tasks such as wallet management, token trading, and NFT minting. It allows users to perform a variety of operations from simple to complex, such as task automation (DCA), meme coin release, and airdrops.

Grift

Grift is an AI agent token launched by the AI infrastructure protocol SphereOne team (funded by Coinbase and Google), which makes Meme trading easier. Users only need to click a button and GRIFT will scan high-volume Memes and automatically purchase them, saving time and effort. SphereOne is a cross-chain crypto payment platform, and the AI trading tools it provides have been validated by the market. Orbit / Grift is the second project to launch a token, with the product aimed at the on-chain DeFi experience. Orbit emphasizes cross-chain functionality, as it has already integrated over 117 chains and 200 protocols, the most of the three protocols.

Neur

Similar to Griffain, Neur is also a smart AI assistant on the Solana chain, providing functions such as creating/checking/managing wallets, Swap/DCA/limit orders, trading NFTs, token analysis, hot tokens, token recommendations, creating and sharing Blink-issued tokens, etc. Neur is the third project to launch a token, but due to its open-source nature, it quickly surpassed Orbit in valuation. Neur positions itself as the co-pilot of Solana, designed specifically for the Solana ecosystem. Neur is supported by the Solana Agent Kit from sendaifun.

Buzz

Buzz is a platform that helps users easily navigate DeFi, like a super-intelligent little bee that specializes in handling complex DeFi operations such as trading, staking, and lending. Users only need to tell it what they want to do through chat instructions, and it will automatically complete the task, and can also combine different needs into customized strategies. For example, after setting the conditions, price fluctuations can trigger automatic execution, and the platform also supports developers to add new features.

Trading Type

Capturing information mining Alpha, manually executing trades, and optimizing portfolios based on indicators are difficult and counter-intuitive tasks for a human trader to do quickly, efficiently, and strictly according to the plan, but for an AI agent, it only takes one instruction to perform perfectly. Autonomous trading agents have taken trading bots to a new level, and over time they can adapt, learn, and make smarter decisions.

Trading bots are not a new concept, but AI agents and trading bots are fundamentally different. AI agents can extract information from constantly changing environments, continuously optimize their models based on market data, and ultimately execute operations that their owners have not explicitly programmed, in order to maximize returns.

Kira

Kira is an AI agent for hedge fund managers. It analyzes the market, predicts trends, and optimizes strategies. Kira uses historical market trading data to train and optimize models, can analyze the cryptocurrency market to determine the best delta-neutral trading strategies, prioritizing high Sharpe ratio strategies to achieve maximum returns. It implements automated stress testing protocols and market simulations to achieve comprehensive risk management in different market scenarios.

ASYM is a network of agents aimed at generating profits and returning them to $ASYM. The first real-time agent on the ASYM infrastructure, pumpdotfun, monitors tokens, analyzes trends, and executes trades using price prediction models.

Project Plutus

Project Plutus provides a reliable AI agent trading partner, using real-time data for analysis and executing DCA, and integrating the sendaifun Solana AI Agent Kit. In addition to basic trading strategies and target tendencies, it will also add the ability to audit open-source or on-chain contracts in the future, if possible. Automation combined with token analysis and fraud detection will give its trading strategies an edge over other projects in the blockchain dark forest.

Almanak

Almanak is an agent-centric platform that allows users to build, train, and manage financial strategies using AI agents. It provides institutional-grade quantitative AI agents to solve the complexity, fragmentation, and execution challenges in DeFi. Almanak's infrastructure supports the ideation, creation, evaluation, optimization, deployment, and monitoring of financial strategies, with the ultimate goal of having these agents learn and adapt over time.

Almanak raised $1 million on legiondotcc, with oversubscription. The next steps include releasing a beta version and deploying initial strategies/agents for beta testers. Observing the performance of these quantitative agents will be very interesting.

An autonomous, self-evolving, learning, and trading AI trader, aiming to redefine DeFAI. AI-Driven dApps

AI-driven dApps is a promising but still nascent field within the DeFAI domain. These are fully decentralized applications that integrate AI or AI agents to enhance functionality, automation, and user experience. While this field is still in its early stages, some ecosystems and projects have started to emerge.
