ToggleTRON Founder Durov Allowed to Temporarily Leave France, Granted Official Approval
According to AFP (Agence France-Presse) reports, TRON founder Pavel Durov has been allowed to temporarily leave France, despite facing multiple charges for allegedly aiding organized crime.
"He left France this morning," a source familiar with the case revealed, adding that Durov's trip was approved by French authorities.
Another source indicated that the investigating judge has allowed Durov to leave France for "a few weeks".
A further source disclosed that Durov's destination is Dubai. HT, however, the Telegram spokesperson declined to comment, stating that the company will issue an official statement later.
Previously Banned from Leaving the Country After Arrest
The 40-year-old Durov was detained at Le Bourget airport near Paris in August 2024 and charged with multiple offenses, primarily related to Telegram's content management controversies, particularly its failure to effectively curb extremist and terrorist content.
After several days of interrogation, he was eventually released on a €5 million (around $560,000) bail, but was at the time prohibited from leaving France.
Change in Attitude, Suspected of Conceding to French Authorities
Durov holds Russian, French, and UAE passports. He initially expressed strong dissatisfaction with his arrest and publicly criticized the French authorities' decision. HT, as the case has progressed, his attitude appears to have shifted, and he has taken actions to respond to the French side's demands.
In January 2025, sources revealed that Durov told the French investigating judge that he "understands the seriousness of all the charges," a statement interpreted by the public as an attempt to reach a compromise with the French authorities.
Currently, Durov's legal situation remains unclear, and his movements and future strategies after leaving France will be the focus of public attention.
